Ever find yourself juggling ten different goals and getting nowhere?
Here’s a method to tackle that—one I call the 1-1-1-1 method.
It’s designed to help you focus on one thing at a time and actually finish it.
Here’s the breakdown:

Step 1: One Macro Goal
Pick a single macro goal to focus on for the next three months.
This goal is your north star for the quarter.
Make it big but clear:
- “Get in shape and stay in shape”
- “Grow my business to $10k per month”
- “Finish writing a 90-page script”
Write it down somewhere you’ll see it. Anytime you’re veering off course, bring yourself back to that goal.
Step 2: One Project at a Time
Next, break down your macro goal into projects.
Goals are broad; projects are smaller, more specific, and take days or weeks to complete.
Projects make that big macro goal less intimidating:
- “Learn a proper strength training routine”
- “Find and close 3 clients at $3,500 each”
- “Write the first draft of my script”
Step 3: One Micro Action
Now, take your first project and break it into micro actions.
These are tasks you can finish in a 2–3 hour block of time.
This keeps things moving. Some examples:
- “Work on arm exercises”
- “Send 100 warm DMs”
- “Write the first 10 pages up to the inciting incident”
Step 4: Tackle 3-5 Micro Actions Daily
At the start of each day, write down 3–5 micro actions that are giving you the most anxiety.
These are the things you keep pushing off, the ones that feel the most challenging.
Tackling them head-on can be a game changer.
Step 5: Focus on ONE Micro Action
Look at each item on that list and ask yourself this question:
(I got this from Tim Ferriss)
““If this were the only thing I accomplished today, would I be satisfied with my day?”
Pick one micro action from the ones you answered “yes” to and give it a dedicated block of time.
No distractions.
Your only focus is to complete that one task within that one time block. The formula?
One Micro Action. One Block of Time. One Project. One Goal.
Repeat daily.
Step 6: Refocus When You Slip
If you find yourself slipping or getting distracted, don’t beat yourself up.
Just gently realign yourself with that single goal, single project, single micro action, and single time block.
It’s a habit that builds with time.
